Lou Cutler, Wish-Granting and Fundraising Volunteer

For the past six years, wish granter Lou Cutler hasn't celebrated his birthday like most with balloons, presents and cake. Rather he's hit the pavement to work up a good sweat - and maybe even some tears - for the organization that he loves most: Make-A-Wish!

A wish granting volunteer for more than 10 years, Lou is a physical education teacher who has found an ingenious way to marry his day job with his volunteer job (at least one day out of the year). Each year, in celebration of his birthday, Lou laces up his tennis shoes and invites his students to do the same as they run one lap around their school for each year of his life, all in the name of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year, Lou circled the building 58 times which equates to about 9.5 miles.

"It's hard to say that I look forward to the run, but I do."

Last year's event raised $1,900 so the race is on to raise even more funds this year.
